  • Where: Gayton Library, 5 St. John's Road, Harrow, HA1 2EE
  • When: Friday 13th October 2017, 11:00 am
  • Admission: Free - advance booking required.

As part of Libraries Week you are invited to join Gayton Library’s reading group to discuss their book of the month, ‘A Little Piece for Mother’ by Barbara Towell. The Kalinski family, Jewish immigrants from Poland, struggle to settle in London after the Second World War. They long to forget the horrors of Nazi persecution and make a new start. Is it possible, or are the scars too deep? How will they cope when one day they find they have new neighbours - German neighbours? This story spans the years from the 1940s to 2008, and is told in flashback by the daughter, Martina. Filled with intrigue, nostalgia, love and hate, it is sometimes shocking - yet at times it will make you smile. A novel to leave you thinking long after you have finished reading the last page.

To book  - Telephone 020 8861 9191 / 020 8861 7988 or e-mail hcc@ageukharrow.org.uk https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/harrow-communities-click-7859998527
